Every year Time Magazine picks out their person of the year. The special edition of the magazine,
which has been coming out since 1927, is dedicated to the person who was the most influential in
a certain year. For instance, in 2022 Person of the Year was the president of Ukraine, Volodimir
Zelenski.
This year’s pick was American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift. She was born on the 13th of
December 1989 in Pennsylvania. In 2008 she came out with her debut album, which was in the
country genre (Taylor Swift). However, with her next two albums, she fully converted to pop
(Fearless, Speak Now). She stayed in the genre (Red, 1989, Lover) until she came out with
folklore in 2020 and evermore a year later, which are more indie folk. Her last album is Midnights
(2022). She has received a lot of awards for her work (for eg. 13 Grammys,…).

- This year she set out on a world tour – The Eras Tour. This is her sixth tour and it pays homage to
- all her studio albums. Following the success of the Eras Tour, she became a billionaire, her Eras
- Tour Movie was a massive success, her albums hit more number-one spots than any other, and
- she became the most streamed artist on Spotify… All of these achievements helped her win
- Person of the Year. At Time Magazine they admitted that their choice may seem unusual at first,
- however, Swift’s popularity and influence are undeniable.
