It’s a new school year and a new article from yours truly. There are many new students attending our school this year so I thought that I might just dedicate this article to them. If you are not a freshman you are still welcome to read this, I think it might be interesting and relatable to anyone. Now let’s start with the fact that I know how freshmen are feeling by starting new school, new scenery and most importantly – having new teachers and students/classmates. I had the privilege to help my little sister this year since she is a freshman at my school and I have to tell you I felt like I was the one starting in a new school.  She stressed about everything you could think of….. and I got flashbacks of my first day of high school. What am I going wear? Does my hair look ok? Does my make-up look ok? Those are just some of the common questions freshmen might ask themselves on the first day. I can tell you without a doubt that those questions might seem really important at the time but in reality I cannot remember what I wore or what my hair looked like on the first day of school. I don’t remember what my classmates wore either and that’s because it really isn’t important. In two months’ everybody will start dressing down…guarantee. Other questions might be: Are people going to like me? What will my teachers be like? Will I do well in school? All I can say about those questions is that being yourself is the best thing you can do, that way you can find some genuine friends who like you for who you are. You might not click with everybody in your class but that doesn’t matter. When it comes to teachers at our school I can tell you they are all really cool and helpful and if you don’t understand something you can always go to them and they will do their best to explain it to you, this I can guarantee from my own experience so don’t be scared. Our school also offers a student-to student type of help. It means that you can always ask an older student for help. The best advice for a freshman would be to chill and just have some fun because after all, now you are in high school 🙂
