SUN SIGNS

When we are born, we are given a sun sign. That is one of the 12 symbols that are used in astrology. The sign is affected by the position of the sun and other planets (each planet is a different aspect of our personality). Today you will learn more about the sun signs and their meaning.

Astrology is first mentioned in 19^th – 17^th century BC in Mesopotamia. At first people used it to help predict seasonal changes but after that it became a study that was thought at universities. Astrology was basically a subject where students focused on planets, stars, and the position of the sun. That meant that they tried to figure out more about a human (the way he acts, talks, moves), with the help of the stars they also tried to predict the future. Some astronomers were successful but most failed. Astrology then affected many wars, nations, and people. Almost every nation then created their own chart but the most known is the Hellenistic. It is the one that we know, and it is the one that is used in Europe.

Hellenistic chart in made of 12 zodiac signs. Each sign has its own characteristics. We also divide the signs into four categories that resemble the four elements on our planet. Fire, earth, air, water. Each element has 3 zodiac signs and around the year the cycle of the elements’ repeats.

The first sign is:

ARIES (fire)—–> 21. March to 19. April ——> THE RAM

As the first sign in the Zodiac, an Aries always marks the beginning of something. Its symbol is the Ram which represents being very competitive, quick, and head on. Since Aries is the sign that rules the head, the people who are born in this time are known to be quite impulsive and sometimes also aggressive. Aries are also very energetic and enthusiastic. They are born to lead, and they strive for success. They also tend to get quickly bored and feel suffocated if they do not have enough freedom.

Strengths:
Courage, determination, self-confidence, enthusiasm.

Weaknesses:
Impatience, silly arguments, allowing fear to limit choices.

TAURUS (earth)—–> 20. April to 20. May—->THE BULL

Taurus people are known for being loyal and very stubborn. Some of their most recognizable traits are being very generous, practical, and persistent. People with this sign are also very protective and care deeply for their loved ones. Their downside is that they can be lazy. Their stubbornness can also help them or disable them.

Strengths:
Dependable, patient, practical.

Weaknesses:
Stubborn, lazy, possessive.

GEMINI (air)—–> 21. May to 20. June——> THE TWINS

Geminis are known for being extremely clever. They are very charming and witty. When it comes to plans, they are flexible, and they adapt quickly. But as each sign has its negative parts Gemini’s can be sometimes emotionally distant and two-faced. Gemini’s want to please everyone around them, that is why they sometimes act very different around different people. However, they are usually optimistic people that just like to have fun.

Strengths:
Curiosity, ability to share ideas, adaptable, affectionate, kind.

Weaknesses:
Scattering energy in too many places at once, fickle in love, nervous, short attention span.

CANCER (water)—–> 21. June to 22. July—-> THE CRAB

Cancers are known to be sensitive. They care about other people more then they care about themselves. They are very empathic. Their family and friends mean everything to them, and they can sometimes be overprotective or clingy because of that. Cancers also tend to be quite moody and self-absorbed. Their feelings are overwhelming at many times. Generally, cancers are one of the kindest signs that just want the best for people around them.

Strengths:
Compassion, emotional sensitivity, fierce protection of loved ones, tenacity.

Weaknesses:
Manipulative, indirect conflict, clinging to the past, insecure.

LEO (fire)—–> 23. July to 22. August——>THE LION

Leos are bold, generous, and charismatic. They know when they want something, and they will do anything to get it. The sign is known for being very confident. Sometimes they are even overly confident. That leads to egoism, arrogance, and stubbornness. However, Leos are very independent and social people. They are brave and mostly exciting people.

Strengths:
Warmth, humour, pride, joy, creativity, passion, generosity.

Weaknesses:
Arrogance, stubbornness, inflexibility, self-centeredness, laziness.

VIRGO (earth)—–> 23. August to 22. September—->THE VIRGIN

Virgos are really organized, practical and hard-working. They are one of the more reserved zodiac signs that is why they are often shy, cold, and sceptical. Perfectionism is also their strengthens and at the same time weakness. Virgos are also great friends because they are trustworthy.

Strengths:
Practical, loyal, hardworking, analytical, kind.

Weaknesses:
Worry, shyness, overly critical of self and others, all work, and no play.

LIBRA (air)—–>23. September to 22. October—-> THE BALANCE

A sign known for being lazy and indecisive. That results in being unreliable and vein. However, Libras are flirty, friendly, and idealistic. They are the most relaxed sign according to studies. They are also known for being peace makers or being the person who cannot decide on anything.

Strengths:
Social, fair-minded, cooperative, diplomatic, gracious.

Weaknesses:
Indecisive, will carry a grudge, avoids confrontations, self-pity.

SCORPIO (water)—–> 23. October to 21. November—> THE SCORPION

Known for being wise, resourceful, and very passionate Scorpios are one of the most emotional signs ever though they do not show it. They tend to be quite controlling since they want everything to go the way they planned. That can lead to jealousy and manipulation. At the end of the day Scorpios are one of the wisest signs that is very trustworthy and loyal.

Strengths:
Passionate, stubborn, resourceful, brave, a true friend.

Weaknesses:
Jealous, distrusting, secretive, violent, caustic.

SAGITTARIUS (fire)—–> 22. November to 21. December—–> THE ARCHER

The most adventurous zodiac sign is known for always wanting to do something new and exciting. Sagittarius are always up for a good time. They are very energetic and optimistic people. But because of their independence and recklessness they can be very cold and unemotional. Overall, they are a selfless sign that just wants to experience new stuff.

Strengths:
Great sense of humour, idealistic, generous.

Weaknesses:
Will say anything no matter how undiplomatic, promises more than can deliver, can be impatient to the point of rudeness.

CAPRIPCORN (earth)——> 22. December to 19. January—–>THE GOAT

Capricorns are reliable, organized and calm. They have a hard-working temperament but sometimes lack imagination. That is because they are very grounded and generally clever. This earth sign is known for its humour and the felling of superiority.

Strengths:
Responsible, good managers, disciplined, self-control, dark sense of humour.

Weaknesses:
Know-it-all, unforgiving, condescending, expecting the worst.

AQUARIOUS (air)—–> 20. January to 18. February——-> THE WATER BEARER

Over thinking is a common struggle among this sign. A struggle is also being emotionally detached, aloof. That comes from the desire to be different and unique. However, Aquarius are intellectually driven. They are really caring and generous people who only want good for others.

Strengths:
Progressive, original, humanitarian, independent.

Weaknesses:
Runs from emotional expression, uncompromising, temperamental, aloof.

PISCES (water)—–> 19. February to 20. March—–> THE FISHES

Pisces can be very clingy and imaginative. That is why they always need someone to keep them grounded. It is a sign that is very empathic and because of that sometimes oversensitive. They are known for their wild imagination, artistic side, and creativeness. They are also quite adventurous and fun people to be around since they never get boring.

Strengths:
Intuitive, compassionate, artistic, gentle, wise, musical.

Weaknesses:
Can be a victim or martyr, fearful, overly trusting, sad, desire to escape reality.

Horoscope does not define a person, but it helps him/her understand his characteristics and the way he/she behaves a little more. Zodiac signs also do not define us. There is no such thing as only 12 personalities. Our horoscope is affected by many more planets.
