1. Friends
Friends is a show about six friends who go through different situations throughout their adult life. The relationships within the group change a lot, which gives to the many plots. The story always circles back to a couch in a café called Central Perk where they like to hang out.
We are introduced to Phoebe, who is a free spirit, she loves to sing, pet animals, and hang out with her friends in Central Perk, she especially has a soft spot for Joey. Joey is a young actor that at first doesn’t have a lot of luck finding a job. But he is known for being a good flirt, his most famous line is “How you doin’?”. Ross is a palaeontologist and never lets any of his friends forget that he has a PhD. He has a lot of love problems and is romantically involved with Rachel Green. Rachel is a spoiled girl who finds her own financial emancipation and way in the world. She is interested in fashion and is known to be Ross’s and Gunter’s love interest. Her childhood best friend and Ross’s sister is Monica, who loves cooking and is known for being an obnoxious person who needs everything to be in its place. The sixth character is Chandler who is Joey’s roommate and best friend, he went to college with Ross. He is a sarcastic character who loves telling his Thanksgiving stories even though he hates the holiday.
The show was first aired in 1994. It was written by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. It starred Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and others. The show was last aired in 2004.
They also filmed a Friends reunion that aired in May 2021.
2. Gilmore Girls
Gilmore girls is about a young mother and her daughter. It shows their relationship and how they deal with their problems. It is going on in Stars Hollow which is a small town and everyone knows them.
Lorelai is the mother. She got pregnant at 16 with Rory and moved to Stars Hollow where she now works at an IN. She is a very sarcastic character who loves movie nights and caffeine. Her best friend and co-worker is Sookie, who is a very bubbly, clumsy person with a big heart, she is also a great cook. Rory is Lorelei’s daughter, who is at the beginning of the show 16 years old, she is very smart and hardworking. She loves French music and loves to read. Her dream is to get to Harvard. Rory has three big love interests, Dean who is a nice boy and loves big gestures, Jess who is a bad boy, he loves to read and is mysterious and Logan who is known for having a lot of female attention and is not ready for a relationship. Rory’s best friend is Lane, who is growing up in a very strict Christian family, but she loves the rock culture and Rory helps her live a double life. Another important character is Luke who owns a restaurant and feeds Lorelai’s caffeine addiction. Rory has rich grandparents Emily and Richard whose relationship with Lorelei is shown through the whole series at Friday night dinners.
The show was first aired in 2000, it was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. The main characters were played by Alexis Bledel, Melissa McCarty, Kelly Bishop, Lauren Graham, Keiko Agena. The show was last aired in 2007.
In 2016 there was a reunion released. It consisted of 4 movies, the series was called: A year in the life and each movie represented a season. It starts with winter.
3. That 70’s show
The show shows six teenagers living in America in the 70’s. it’s a humoristic sit-com that was released in 1998.
The story is about Michael, Jackie, Donna, Eric, Hyde, and Fez. Fez is an exchange student who was bullied at the American school he went to, so he started hanging out with the other five characters. He is known for desperately wanting a girlfriend and being a humoristic character. Jackie comes from a very rich family and is the love interest of Michael. She is portrayed as a self-obsessed, annoying but extremely pretty character. Michael, who is her boyfriend, is also known for being very pretty and wanted by girls though he is not very intelligent. Eric is a sarcastic character, who loves Star Wars. Donna is Eric’s love interest and is known for being outspoken. She is not bothered by her looks or the girly things. Hyde is a character that comes from a broken family and abuses substances daily. He is not bothered by others and is living his life as he wants to. The group spends most time in Eric’s garage, where they get high and talk about life or listen to Led Zeppelin.
The series shows characters going through teenage drama and their dealing with it in their own unique way. The main characters were played by Mila Kunis, Laura Prepon, Danny Masterson, Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderrama.
4. Gossip girl
Gossip girl shows a bunch of privileged teenagers go through their high-school years. It shows how even teenagers that can afford anything they can think of, are struggling with their mental health and social issues. The story is narrated by a gossip girl. That is a person who everyone texts when there is some drama happening and gossip girl posts the drama on her page and within seconds the whole town knows exactly what is going on. The main characters are Serena and Blaire. They have a love-hate relationship and are always the talk of the town. Through the series we find out the dark parts of their pasts that they try to hide. The most important male character is Dan who comes from the poorer side of the town and is known for being a writer and not having influential parents. He lives with his father and sister. He loves writing and is trying to become important in the writing world. He has a sister Jenny who is very interested in the fashion world and is trying to fit in with the rich kids. There are also Nate and Chuck that are Serena’s and Blair’s love interests. The show was airing between 2007 and 2012. It has 6 seasons, and it was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The most important characters were played by Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford and others.
5. Grey’s anatomy
Greys anatomy was created by Shonda Rhimes and was first aired in 2005. The main character is played by Ellen Pompeo. Grey’s anatomy is also the only show that has 18 seasons, and it is still airing.
The show is about surgeons, going through their residency and then facing everyday problems and surgeon problems. They are falling in love, and they are making friends. The first friend group created and presented included Meredith Grey, Alex Karev, George O’Malley, Izzie Stevens, Christina Yang. They were moving in and out of Meredith’s house, which she inherited from her mother who died of the Alzheimer’s. Meredith also has an affair with her attending, so does her best friend, Christina. The five friends fall in love, fight, and help each other through difficult times.
They are faced with many traumatic moments and through the series there are people leaving and coming. In the last season there are only 3 main characters from the first season left. But Meredith stays the main character.
The show also brings up many social issues that society is facing.
